I was lucky enough to meet Nancy at an At Her Table event several years ago, where I donated free headshots for female business owners. I’ll be honest — I was pretty on the fence about offering my art and my services for free that day, but I trusted that the laws of reciprocity would hold true. And boy did they ever. Nancy has since hired me for branding work for her metaphysical wine label, Ulloa Cellars, and she even attended my Persephone Unleashed retreat on Whidbey Island last year. As if that weren’t karma enough for me, she has become a dear friend and I enjoy every second I spend and every conversation I have with her.
I am absolutely over the moon for her and Tim, and the exciting things they’re up to at their own wine label, The Witch & the Warlock. Be sure to follow them and the history they are making alongside their wines. You won’t be disappointed.

Just like that, another wedding season comes to a beautiful and perfect end. I couldn’t have picked a better wedding or couple to end my 2019 season with than Kailey and Steve. There is something overwhelmingly precious about a wedding where it’s not just about two people committing to love one another, but a whole family. I loved watching these two rock their bride and groom status while simultaneously being AMAZEBALLS parents. It was very apparent that the day wasn’t just about the two of them, but the four of them.

I could say so much about these two. SO MUCH. But as I sit here with my fingers hovering over the keyboard, all I can see is Kiersten & Michelle’s first dance playing on repeat in my head. With their friends and family gathered around them, they sang “Your Mess is Mine” (by Vance Joy) to one another as they swayed in the light of the setting sun. And in that moment, I knew these two might just be the most marriage-aware couple I’ve ever come across. It’s one thing to wear the dress, say the vows, and look longingly into your lovers’ eyes. But it’s quite another thing to commit to sharing a messy existence with another human being. Because that’s what marriage is, no matter who you are — it’s the most beautiful mess there ever was. These two don’t take the love of the other for granted, and wouldn’t waste a drop of it for the world.
