Patricia, a Mermaid | Morro Bay, CA

If you know me at all, you know that photographing a professional mermaid is basically all of my deepest photographer dreams manifested into reality.

So. You could say I’m pretty thrilled.
Thank you, more please.

Lester + Ariel | San Luis Obispo Pregnancy Photographer

By now you are probably quite familiar with the phrase “Covid ruins everything,” right?
Well, for Lester & Ariel, Covid just moved some things around. They got engaged, started planning their wedding, and BAM — Covid. But a quick (and unexpected) course change led them to a beautiful baby boy growing inside this goddess’ body.

Children are already bright little lights in our world, but when the night is dark, they shine all the brighter.
So if that’s not making lemonade out of lemons, I don’t know what is.

Gilberto + Brooke | San Luis Obispo Engagement Photos

The first time I met Brooke, we had just learned we would be sharing a tiny room with 3 other girls on a YWAM base in Northern Ireland. After being roommates for 4 months, we graduated to living across the hall in a freezing cold hotel in Chongqing, China in the dead of winter. Needless to say, we have a LOT of wild memories together. From celebrating my 18th birthday in Belfast and waking up in a linen closet at Queens University, to sharing earphones singing Imogen Heap while walking the streets of China.

And now she’s getting marriiiieeeeeeed!!!!!!

We took these photos a couple weeks ago, when the smoke was thick and the fog was thicker.
And with today being the Autumn Equinox, I couldn’t help myself but to share this most fall-ish collection of photos with you.

The Gomes Family | Paso Robles Family Photographer

It was freezing cold with gale force winds.
But you would never know it based on Elowen’s smile above.

It’s no secret how near and dear this family is to my heart. Watching and documenting these girls grow is one of my greatest honors.
And seeing as we’re doing Larken’s ONE YEAR (!!!!!) photos next week, I thought I should catch up and post this session we did for her 6 month milestone last fall.

And if you really want to fall down a rabbit hole, check out their pregnancy session…. and maybe, if you’re feeling it, even their birth story.

The Harris Family | Pregnancy Session | Higuera Ranch, San Luis Obispo

With Mother’s Day coming up this weekend, I thought it was as good a time as any to get back into the rhythm of blogging. I don’t know how many people even scroll through these pages, but I sure love being able to look back upon images of GOOD times. If these strange days have taught me anything, it’s that there is a lot to be grateful for, if you know where to look.

My session with these 3 was my first photo session since the shelter in place order was issued 2 months ago. I didn’t realize how imperative photography is to my well-being, until I had the camera in my hands and I was chasing sunlight up a hill with a 9 months pregnant woman trailing behind me. These are the days. These. Are. The. Days.

>> for a big throwback, check out Sean & Stephanie’s last session when they were pregnant this smiley little cherub <<
