I first met Nick & Courtney when they were members of a wedding party and I was 4 months postpartum photographing the wedding with Phoenix in an ergo carrier. Fast forward a couple years, to their first pregnancy, when they found themselves in need of a photographer themselves. It’s now been 6 years since they first invited me into their home to document their first daughter, and I never could have seen the friendship that would grow from that encounter. Maybe it’s the last name we share, maybe it’s kismet, maybe it’s a little of both — but I am so obsessed with this little family. So when they made plans to move out of San Francisco and wanted to document their favorite things about the city they called home for so many years, I was over the moon to tag along for the ride.
The way these girls light up when I walk in the door, ask me to brush their hair, introduce me to their stuffies, and request that I be the one to read their bedtime story — fills my heart to bursting. This is why I do what I do. Why I’ll never stop. For the amazing people and relationships I gather along the way, the ones who keep me around to document their love story in every season.

These are the days. The days when your entire life — body and soul — have changed. The days when a tiny, squishy human has made the trip from womb to homestead. You are tired, emotional, a little broken, and starry eyed with wonder. You wonder what was so important in your life before this, because for these first few weeks, THIS is all there is. You are starstruck to meet this person, and didn’t know such a capacity for love existed before meeting them.

Charles & Winnie celebrated 30 years of marriage with a blustery photo shoot with yours truly.

I first met Nick & Courtney just under 3 years ago at a wedding. I was the photographer sneaking out to nurse her 4 month old daughter in the coordinator’s office, and they were looking dapper as part of the wedding party. Fast forward to last September where we found our paths crossing at yet another wedding, where they were 5 months pregnant and part of yet another gorgeous wedding party I was photographing. The universe has a funny way of crossing paths at just the right time.
