This is my friend Sabel. She has loved and lost more babies than any mother should ever have to. This baby girl is arriving right on time, and we can’t wait to meet her.
Unrelated — if you’ve ever complimented me on my hair, it’s this babe’s doing.

Two and a half years ago, I had the honor of photographing Sara & Theresa’s wedding celebration at The Madonna Inn. We instantly connected over mutual awkwardness and quirky awesomeness. So much so, that they couldn’t imagine stepping in front of a new photographer’s lens, and flew me out to their home city of Albuquerque to document this exciting time and milestone with them. We spent the day exploring the city they love so much — from the nursery in their home, to the murals adorning the city buildings, all the way to Los Pablanos Lavender Farm for a photographer’s golden hour dreamscape.
Their sweet bebe is due this month, and I cannot WAIT to meet them for family photos this Winter.

“Everything grows rounder and wider and weirder, and I sit here in the middle of it all wondering who in the world you will turn out to be.” – Carrie Fisher
And to think, this baby girl made her way Earthside just days after we took these photos. Life is WEIRD.
Stay tuned for photos of sweet Kaia with her parents, coming soon…

My little brother is becoming a father.
Words I don’t think I’d ever get to say.
The same kid I’d drive around town in my ’95 VW Golf, go to screamo shows, and do random photo shoots with when we were teenagers.
Is having a kid of his own. And I am a mess of feels.
Next month, this stunning goddess will give birth to my nephew.
I am so excited to enter into a new season of life with my brother and his beautiful fiancé, as they join the parenthood club, and we grow closer over ALL THE THINGS.
But mostly I can’t wait to smell his sweet little head and nibble on his tiny little toes.
Oh, Waylon Peter, we cannot wait to meet you.

Once upon a time, I myself found out I was pregnant with a surprise miracle baby who, sadly, forced me to cancel several of my wedding contracts.
Mikey & Fiona‘s wedding was one of those weddings. But no, they just wouldn’t have it. So what did they do? They CHANGED THEIR WEDDING DATE, just so that I could be their photographer. And my heart exploded. My daughter, Phoenix, was 5 months old when they got married. And she totally crashed their wedding (I even have a photo of Fiona in her wedding dress, holding Phoenix. And a video of me photographing their sparkler exit carrying Phoenix on my chest).
Needless to say — I am DEEPLY connected to this beautiful couple. And it feels so full circle that she is now growing her own miracle inside her womb.
I am a puddle of gratitude, and cannot wait to meet this precious baby boy.
