San Luis Obispo Photographer | Jenna Marie

This girl is my sister.
Okay, she’s my cousin. But she’s my cousin in the way that she’s actually my sister.
And she decided she doesn’t need a special thing like a boyfriend or a wedding as an excuse to document her life as it is RIGHT NOW.

So she escaped the city for a few days and we went on a photo adventure, just like we used to when we were teenagers with freshly minted drivers licenses. It filled my heart to the brim, and my inspiration cup runneth over.

This feeling right here, the one you will see written all over her face and body language in these photos, THIS is why I’ve dreamed up the Persephone Unleashed retreat. It is for women who just want to connect with themselves, body and soul, in a new and exciting way. And you just don’t know how MAGICAL it is until you’ve done it.

The Gomes Family | Paso Robles Family Photographer

It was freezing cold with gale force winds.
But you would never know it based on Elowen’s smile above.

It’s no secret how near and dear this family is to my heart. Watching and documenting these girls grow is one of my greatest honors.
And seeing as we’re doing Larken’s ONE YEAR (!!!!!) photos next week, I thought I should catch up and post this session we did for her 6 month milestone last fall.

And if you really want to fall down a rabbit hole, check out their pregnancy session…. and maybe, if you’re feeling it, even their birth story.

Ragged Point Inn Wedding – Neil & Sindy

Some might say you only get one great love in your life time. These two, a widow and a widower, are living proof that is hogwash. A year and a half after his wife’s passing, on her birthday, Neil’s wife came to him in a dream and revealed to him the face of a beautiful redheaded woman. With the help of Match.com and nudges from beyond the veil, it took three days of clicking through profiles before he finally found her — the woman from his dream. She was 850 miles away. Hundreds of hours talking on the phone eventually led to plane tickets for a real life meetup, where it became clear their souls were linked on an inexplicable level.

Which led us to this wedding. The wedding to rule all weddings.
From the processional set to the Game of Thrones theme, to the honoring of great spirits represented by great birds, to their fairy princess granddaughter tossing magical selenite dust everywhere she went (a jar of which Neil’s first wife kept for years and years, promising it was meant for something incredible, she just couldn’t say what) — every single moment was a thread in the tapestry of their love story. A story I am beyond honored to have been a witness to and sacred documenter of.

San Luis Obispo Vow Renewal – Broc & Janelle

My actual job description is to be invited into the small and sacred spaces of another human’s story, to bear witness to the energy exchange between bodies and souls, to listen first and document second. And the magic of << ALL THAT << is far from lost on me.

This particular story speaks volumes to me, because it feels like a parallel universe version of my own love story: They met in the high school lunch room. And have been the best of friends ever since. Well, at least that’s the cliff notes version…

Janelle & Broc hit the 10 year mark in their marriage, and celebrated by renewing their wedding vows on the edge of the continent. Over the sound of crashing waves, they paid tribute to the trials and victories they’ve faced together and made new promises for the years to come.

Seeing as I’ve been both in the wedding industry and married for over 10 years, I have been student of marriage for a LONG time. And I can say one thing for certain: it is one hell of a beautiful mess. And getting to be a part of documenting the mess as it shapeshifts and transforms is by far the most incredible job in the universe.

Based in San Luis Obispo and traveling the globe documenting destination weddings, elopements, and stories of all kinds. Inspired by love, light, heartache, and all the things that make us human.
