Persephone Unleashed | Summer Retreat

Ladies & gentlemen, we’ve done it again.

We’ve successfully escaped a society in the midst of a pandemic to connect with other humans and just LOVE on ourselves. And that, dear ones, is worth a standing ovation of applause. I am no fool — I know that stepping away from our life is HARD. Stepping away from our children, our jobs, our businesses, our home takes true commitment to ones wellness and mental health. And for that, I want to honor each and every woman who has made it happen for herself this past year and attended a Persephone Unleashed retreat. Bravo, madame.

That being said, I am over the moon to bring you the Persephone Unleashed Summer Retreat experience. Just after the Summer Solstice, 8 women gathered in the hills of Arroyo Grande. This retreats unspoken theme came to life in the form of Joy. We met each other in the mess, and danced ALL OVER IT.

We made flower crowns, did botanical face masks, and feasted under the stars. We stretched and expanded our capacity for joy. We were treated like queens, being pampered and served like true royalty. We laughed, skinny dipped, drank in the sweet nectar of life, and then laughed some more.

Summing these retreat into words feels impossible, so I’m grateful that my camera can speak for me instead.

Travis & Andrea | Big Sur Pregnancy Photos

Nothing like getting half naked on the brink of the continent to breathe confidence and power into a woman.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again — being a couple’s lifetographer is the greatest honor of my career. Travis & Andrea are no exception. From engagement photos, to wedding photos, to this pregnancy magic. And beyond.

The Storr Family | San Francisco Newborn Session

These are the days. The days when your entire life — body and soul — have changed. The days when a tiny, squishy human has made the trip from womb to homestead. You are tired, emotional, a little broken, and starry eyed with wonder. You wonder what was so important in your life before this, because for these first few weeks, THIS is all there is. You are starstruck to meet this person, and didn’t know such a capacity for love existed before meeting them.

My newborn sessions aren’t what one might expect. I don’t wrap your darling one in fabrics and post them in adorable sleepy poses. I don’t put them in baskets or suitcases. My heart is to tell the story of these days. The non-stop nursing, the burp cloths, the shhhhhing and swaying, and the ways you and your partner have found to support one another through it all.

I’ve had the honor of photographing Adam & Victoria’s love story, starting with their wedding, through their pregnancy. And now with their sweet Veda girl.
My heart is full.

Sam + Chrisy | Paso Robles Backyard Intimate Wedding

If you haven’t already heard, I’ve switched to exclusively photographing intimate weddings (50 guests or less… with an exception here or there).

Sam & Chrisy’s wedding was confirmation that I’ve made the right choice. Everything about their backyard wedding was what I love about weddings — family, connection, and sun-drenched couples portraits. And I am smitten.
